I agree that we need to keep a reputation of being, as Samcrow put it, "the cool kids on the block". If we are seen as a kinship that is continually spamming we need to stop it immediately so we do not ruin our image. Whuzzyboy also touched on this topic previously saying:

Quote:
It would also set a bad name for the kinship, labelling it as "The spammer kin"
.

I think that although this may work it has a higher chance of not working. This means it would probably be ineffective and it will probably give us a bad image. Although if we give a short and sweet regional message as Samcrow said it may not be as effective but will not give us the image of "The spammer kin". So my final decision is to give short and infrequent regional messages. This will give us a slight chance of recruitment rather than none and will keep our image intact. Post below whether you agree with me or not.

Yeah it is certainly frowned upon in many a mmo from what i have learned. Some kins.. alot of kins take it to far, while frowned upon it proves effective in some cases, personally i have not had much success with this method. I still do send out the occasionally post, more than anything i guess just to send a reminder we are still kicking around Lol. It is a sticky subject and i believe in keeping Region posts very short and sweet and definitely not one after another in a span of 5 minutes or more!

I think apart of what sets us apart and add's to our reputation is the fact that we don't participate in the same generic spamming routine that so many Kins do.

I have planned some projects for release hopefully later this year that will lauch our profile a little bit; a short animation ideally posted at the same time as the new Helms Deep expansion.
I think fundamentally a Kinship is a place to build friendships with real people and enjoy the social side of gaming.
I certainly would rather keep our dignity that we have held onto and remain the cool kids on the block.
Sometimes less is more.

Well Whuzzyboy you do raise some good points but I have already thought of recruiting people at a early level and it hasn't really worked. Most people starting off at a early level are not as active as they should really be. Some extreme cases involve people not passing the level 20 mark and never logging onto Lord of the Rings Online ever again. Their may be the exception such as your self who is regularly active and does play Lord of the Rings Online but most of them are very inactive and because of the inactive rule Samcrow made that means they will kicked out of the Kinship. People over level 20 though are much more likely to be more regular in the kinship than people under level 20 would be.

However with the point you raised with people not wanting to join the kinship because of regional messages is a very good point. I had not thought that people would not join the kinship because of regional messages due to the fact of being somewhat annoying. That is a great point you raise Whuzzyboy and definitely should be taken into consideration when making that decision.

Also keep up the good work with the adventures you have been having with other member of the kinship or even people who are not apart of the kinship that are around your level. These adventures you are having brings the Kinship closer together and make people have a good time. Even people that are not apart of our Kinship can tag along and join the fun and if they want to they can join the Kinship. Keep up the good work Whuzzyboy.

If anyone disagrees with my way of thinking with lower levels please leave a response. I am always happy to debate about any topic and I wont be offended if you disagree with my views.

Well how were each of us recruited into the illuminati? I personally was recruited at a very low level (11), when I was in archet. I have been in this kin ever since. I was simply approached when I was killing something easy as level 13 and saw no reason to not join.

Recruiting people that are level 20 and above tend to have a high chance of already being in a kinship. I have noticed that it is extremely hard to get these people to change kinship. Because of this, I don't believe recruiting people at least over 25 would improve the kinship's population too rapidly.

The for the people that don't know me, I tend to go on many adventures. I take people my level and below into dangerous places, like the misty mountains or Eregion. I get to know these people after time and if they seem to be good people I add them to my friends list. Other people could do the same and invite them into the kinship.

Spamming regional chat I believe would only make people not want to join the kin. Perhaps recruiting more low level people and the occasional high level would be preferable. Not by spam recruiting, but by getting to know them through fighting together/friends of friends/crafting together etc.
(By the way i'm not saying recruit in Archet, I'm saying recruit people that are around level 15 - 25 and levelling up fast)

If there are any more recruitment methods I have missed, please reply to this post.

You are not alone of being unsure about this predicament the kinship has faced itself with. Many of the officers of the kinship are still in debate about this potential decision. We are very unsure about whether we should enact upon this form of recruitment due to the decisions you have kindly pointed out plus a few minor ones. However we do not know any other way of recruitment we could enable to improve our kinship's numbers at the moment.

I'm unsure about this method, although it can be effective would it be attracting the right people? I believe the majority of people that would join would be kinship hoppers, people that would only stay in a kinship until it no longer benefits them. It would also set a bad name for the kinship, labelling it as "The spammer kin". However, it would increase our kinship's size dramatically over time, whatever benefits that would bring.

I am currently unsure of this method of recruitment.

Well this is a difficult situation the Kinship is in at the moment. Our numbers are remaining still and not increasing or decreasing. Should we as a Kinship spam regional chat with recruitment messages in order to increase the members of our kinship or should we avoid this due to the fact it is not a 'by the book' method. Leave your comments why we should or shouldn't below and leave a answer on our polls.
